Nki National Park
Nki National Park has been described as "the last true wilderness" in Cameroon—a fitting title for this profoundly remote and almost entirely untouched expanse of the Congo Basin rainforest. Spanning over 309,000 hectares (with the broader protected landscape including neighboring areas exceeding a million hectares), Nki offers one of the planet's rarest chances to immerse yourself in pristine, primitive nature, far from modern intrusions.
This dense, biodiverse forest teems with life: recent surveys highlight stable or even improving populations of iconic species, including forest elephants (around 1,000 in the wider Boumba Bek–Nki area), chimpanzees and western lowland gorillas. Over 265 bird species can be found in the canopy and on the forest floor, alongside leopards, various primates, duikers, and more, creating an ecosystem that feels truly alive and ancient.
Our tour to Nki National Park from Yaoundé also opens the door to cultural encounters with the Baka Pygmies, one of the world's oldest hunter-gatherer communities. Please, let us know if you are interested to book this jungle tour in Cameroon with our agency.
