Cultural Tour of Bamileke Area With Chefferies and Kingdoms

Over the course of your Cameroon tour, you will discover the expressive culture and traditions of the West Region of Cameroon with its Kingdoms called chefferies, a unique phenomenon in Cameroon. You will meet the hardworking and dynamic Bamileke people, who are very attached to their roots.

Starting at the cosmopolitan city of Yaoundé in Central Africa, you will have the opportunity to explore more of Cameroon's history, culture, and daily life. Enjoy a short trek up a mountain, experience different cities and villages, beautiful waterfalls, etc.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Yaoundé
Welcome and pick up at the airport, and transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight in Yaoundé. 

Day 2: Yaoundé - Batoufam - Bandjoun

The drive from Yaoundé to Ebepda is the first order of the day. Stop at the Sanaga Bridge and admire local people extracting sand in the river. Continuation to the West Region next, and stop to visit the Chief's Palace of Batoufam: meeting and discussion with the king before departing to Bandjoun. Overnight at a local hotel. 

Day 3: Bandjoun - Lac Mbapit - Foumban 

After breakfast, drive to Foumbot and go trekking to visit the ´´Mystical Lake of Mount Bapit´´. Continuation to Foumban for a discovery of the rich and exceptional culture of the Bamoun people. Dinner and Overnight. 

Day 4: Foumban - Petponoun - Bamendjing

Today we will head for an excursion to the Petponoun Touristic Center. We will enjoy lunch at the center and then continue on and visit the Bamendjing dam. Overnight. 

Day 5: Bamendjing - Bagam - Dschang

This morning we will make our way to visit the village of Bagam. Here you have the opportunity to experience several activities with local people, then meet and chat with the Chief of Bagam's people in his Palace. From here you will continue to Dschang, with a stop to visit the Metche waterfalls. Visit the city of Dschang and overnight stay at a local hotel. 

Day 6: Dschang

Our day in Dschang today will include a visit to the museum of civilization in the morning, then a drive to visit the village Fotomena. Here we will meet and chat with the Chief of the village in his palace, enjoy a special local food with the Royal family, and drive back to Dschang for overnight stay at a local hotel. 

Day 7: Dschang- Douala

On our way to Douala today, we will drive through the cliff of Santchou to the Moungo area. Along the way, we will visit large plantations of banana, pineapples, coffee, cocoa, palm oil, rubber tree, etc. visit the city of Douala and overnight stay at a local hotel. 

Day 8: Douala / Yaoundé

We’ll drive back to Douala or can also continue to Yaoundé if you’d like. Drop off at the hotel of your choice.
